Impressive professionalism: MLB in action for 3M at the Gendorf Chemical Park
It took a lot of stamina to win even the first order from Dyneon GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of 3M and one of the world‘s leading manufacturers of fluoropolymers and special additives. MLB Manufacturing Service GmbH was then able to prove its credentials in a particularly demanding project in 2018.
The job involved the performance of inspections by separately trained specialists for chemical plants and sometimes included the use of heavy-duty respirators (SCC training, G26.3 suitability test for respiratory protection devices).
The project team comprising 15 specialists was assembled and excellently led by Phillip Müller. Additional specialists were brought in from ROBUR‘s Hungarian affiliate IMO. The team was able to complete an additionally necessary flange training with full protecton thanks to a strong relationship with the IWB plant fire brigade in Bobingen.
Well equipped and perfectly prepared, it was then possible to complete the inspections of a RFJ plant producing monomers, poly 2 and PFC. Control and regulating valves, fittings, gate valves and heat exchangers had to be replaced, various tanks had to be opened for TÜV approval and then closed again – in some cases wearing heavy-duty respiratory protection.
Kai Nepolsky, Managing Director of MLB, was delighted at the positive feedback from 3M and a follow-up order for 2019, in which 30 experts were deployed in Gendorf for up to 4 weeks. The job for 2020 has not started yet due to the COVID-19 restrictions. MLB is confident that it will begin soon.
