EAM and Schaeffler create a lifecycle platform for rolling bearings.
More transparency and more efficiency in the monitoring of rolling bearings were realized by EAM Software GmbH in cooperation with Schaeffler Monitoring Services GmbH for the Swiss Bundesbahnen.
Schaeffler Monitoring Services GmbH now monitors their rolling bearings, produced within the Schaeffler Group, over their entire service life with the aid of an internationally recognized GS1 Identification Standard Code (SGTIN – Serial Global Trade Item Number). Relevant data about production, maintenance and operation of each individual rolling bearing is recorded clearly, securely, seamlessly and reliably. With the help of this innovative solution, what happened when, where and why can be traced at any time.
More and more manufacturers and their customers demand and need the reliable collection and evaluation of such data. On the one hand, as in this case, to fulfil legal requirements (for tracking safety-relevant components), on the other hand, for example, to make maintenance processes more efficient. The requirements of current European standards and national laws are fully met and a complete proof (e.g. in the event of damage) is available electronically at all times at object plane.
The software for this was developed by EAM specialists in close cooperation with Schaeffler Monitoring on the basis of the EAM system IBM Maximo 7.6.
The solution enables electronic data exchange via the international EPCIS standard format between the manufacturer and the customer at any time, live and in real time. The software also saves an enormous amount of time compared to the previous manual collection, preparation and transfer of data.
