ROBUR establishes ROBUR Renewable Management Engineers GmbH - extending the portfolio in the renewable energy sector

By establishing ROBUR Renewable Management Engineers GmbH (ROBUR RME), ROBUR extends its position as a leading, integrated service provider in the renewable energy sector. The objective of the new entity is the development of a holistic approach for the development and management of renewable energy investments. Kurt Stürken, a proven expert in the wind industry, has taken over the role of Managing Director for ROBUR RME. For the most recent edition of ROBUR HIGHLIGHTS we had the chance of asking Kurt Stürken five questions about ROBUR RME and the market of renewable energy:

How would you describe the market for renewable energies in Germany and Europe?

The buildout of wind energy projects in Germany has been lagging expectations for years. The main cause lies in the lack of support on regional level in the permitting process. The solar sector is showing a far more promising picture. The opposition to projects is considerably smaller. On the European perspective the picture looks much better. The development of both technologies looks much more promising, especially in competition to conventional energy on the market.

What is ROBUR RME´s offer to its clients?

ROBUR RME is able to offer a comprehensive service in the development as well as in the operational phase of the projects, for the latter especially by technically and commercially optimizing the projects as well as managing lifetime extensions.

Who are or would be the potential clients, who should contact you?

Clients are predominantly Investors who are lacking experience or capacity in the development phase of renewable energy projects, or who are under the assumption, that their projects are lagging their expectations on the income side, without being able to pinpoint the cause of their losses. We have experience on a global level and an advantage of our work is that we only partly need to carry it out physically on the asset. A bigger part of our work happens in the office using data feeds from the facilities.

What is special about RME?

We are not only independent and able to support our clients with an unbiased focus on the economic development of their assets. We are also able, partly with the help of partners, to develop and optimize the projects with a holistic approach. Renewable energy projects are of complex structure, both technically and in today’s times, often also commercially. An optimized development is only possible with the view on the complete picture with all its facets. This is our claim and USP.

What was your motivation to develop the offering with ROBUR?

ROBUR presents the ideal conditions to implement this concept, an approach still fairly new in the renewable energy sector. The management supports the ambition to not only bring together services in the renewable energy sector with digitization and return on invested capital, but to implement these for the benefit of the client´s needs.

In addition, we are seeing much support through the existing service entities in ROBUR. They are bringing competence and experience and can help speed up the development process of RME.
