Relocation with support from TEC: a new home for 270 machines
In 2019, an American automotive supplier in Thuringia started to restructure its production lines. This included transporting almost all the machines to new sites and converting a significant number.
This was a task that TEC GmbH from Dormagen, Germany was glad to take on. However, they did not anticipate that the contract would be continually expanded until, ultimately, a total of 270 machines would have been moved. At the peak of the project, up to 25 specialists were working simultaneously, ensuring a significant increase in the planned turnover up to the end of the project in November 2020.
The project required a great deal of flexibility both on the part of the customer and the colleagues at TEC. However, intensive coordination based on trust, especially at the project management level, ensured that all obstacles were overcome. From March 2020, COVID-19 caused one or two temporary plant closures and access was denied to external workers, but the project was not interrupted, thanks to excellent planning. Border closures and quarantine regulations made it difficult to collaborate with a partner from Slovakia who was providing resources for the project. However, these missing resources were compensated for within ROBUR by specialists from WIR, GESA and WKA. Corona-related delays were thus avoided by involving ROBUR partners.
According to TEC project manager Dipl.-Ing. Bert Fischer, integration into the project team was an entirely smooth process across all companies. There is a noticeable “enthusiasm for joint projects” and a feeling of solidarity within ROBUR. This immensely facilitates agile and flexible work in large-scale projects of this kind.
